An exciting new video hints that Pokemon may be coming to Fortnite soon - but is this the case? Fortnite has brought characters from all manner of gaming, film, and TV franchises over the past few years. As the battle royale shooter continues to grow as the biggest game in the world, more players are looking for Pokemon to come to join the fun as well. Let's get into the potential of a Pokemon Fortnite crossover.
Is Pokemon Coming to Fortnite?
As of right now, there are no official plans for a Pokemon Fortnite crossover. However, when looking at Epic Games' past collaboration with other franchises, it's easier than ever to speculate that one is possible.
Over the years, Fortnite had started to bring in beloved characters from mainstream pop culture franchises. Star Wars, Marvel, John Wick, Halo, The Walking Dead, Alien, The Witcher, and even God of War, are just a handful of names which have appeared in the battle royale.
Although, it was not until recently that a Pokemon Fortnite collaboration has become more likely, thanks to the increased partnership with anime other franchises.
Starting with Naruto back in Chapter 2: Season 8, Fortnite has been steadily bringing more anime IPs into the mix. After the highly anticipated collection of Dragon Ball characters; Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and Bulma; were introduced, the most recent and most obscure anime crossover has been the addition of cast members from My Hero Academia.
Whilst My Hero is without a doubt one of the most popular anime in the world right now, it is still a bit of a niche title for mainstream audiences who aren't that familiar with the medium - being a big signifier for a Pokemon Fortnite collaboration.
That's because this has shown Epic Games have been increasingly broadening their horizons of what franchises to do crossovers with. Being one of the biggest franchises in the history of both gaming and anime - and the overwhelmingly positive reception to the incredible fan-made trailer above - a Pokemon Fortnite collaboration would be a guaranteed hit.
For now, we will have to wait and see. Nevertheless, the potential of Pokemon Fortnite crossover is the ultimate example of the phrase "never say never".
