The Pokemon Go Detective Pikachu Returns event has begun, meaning there's a new Collection Challenge and a handful of event-exclusive Field Research tasks to discover.

Collection Challenges are limited-time quests in Pokemon GO that require you to catch a specific lineup of Pokemon before an event ends. If you manage to do this, you'll usually be given some pretty useful rewards, so it's worth completing them whenever you can.

In the case of the Detective Pikachu Returns Collection Challenge, the Pokemon you'll need to catch won't appear as wild spawns, which makes things a little trickier. Put your sleuthing hat on and discover everything you need to complete this challenge below.

Pokemon Go Detective Pikachu Returns Collection Challenge explained

Here are all of the Pokemon you'll need to catch to complete this Collection Challenge:

Pokemon How to catch it What it looks like
Snivy Complete an event-exclusive Field Research task Snivy in Pokemon GO
Rowlet Complete an event-exclusive Field Research task Rowlet in Pokemon GO
Sudowoodo Complete an event-exclusive Field Research task Sudowoodo in Pokemon GO

Completion reward: 1000 Stardust and a Collection Challenge medal

While this Collection Challenge is relatively short compared to previous ones, the fact that you can only encounter the featured Pokemon by completing Field Research tasks means it could take you a while to finish.

The reward for finishing this also isn't very great, in my opinion, as you'll only be getting 1000 Stardust for your efforts. Still, if you'll be completing Field Research tasks anyway, you may as well get that reward!

Snivy, Rowlet, and Sudowoodo will all be given as rewards for specific event-exclusive Field Research tasks, so we've rounded them up below (courtesy of LeekDuck) to help you figure out which ones you need to get.

You can get these Field Research tasks by spinning PokeStops during the Detective Pikachu Returns event.

Remember, if you don't get the Field Research tasks you need, simply hit the trash can icon next to them to delete them. That way, you can spin more PokeStops until you get the tasks you're looking for.
