The Pokemon GO electric event, titled Crackling Voltage, is about to be here, introducing players to various forms of specialised content for a limited period of time. Pokemon GO has been going strong for several years now, and part of that success is due to Niantic adding new events every season that freshens up the gameplay.

Pokemon GO Electric Event Start Date
The Pokemon GO electric event is set to run from January 25 to February 8, but different content will be phased in and out during this period, meaning you'll need to play every day to engage with all the new content.
The entire event is called Crackling Voltage, and will be focused on electric-type Pokemon, featuring new wild encounters, field research tasks, raids, and a Team GO Rocket takeover that will see a new Shadow Pokemon. Wild Encounters
From January 27 to February 5, various electric-type Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild. Some of them will also have the chance to be shiny, with the Shiny Helipoptile appearing for the first time.

Pokemon GO Electric Event: Team GO Rocket Takeover
Starting on February 1, the new Team GO Rocket takeover will begin, running until February 5. This introduces a special research story that sees players hunting down Giovanni for Shadow Registeel, and this story can be completed up until the end of Season 9 on March 1.
As a bonus for this part of the event, Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokeStops for you to challenge. There are also new Mysterious Component rewards for any Field Research tasks completed during this portion of the event.
