Origin Forme Dialga best moveset in Pokemon GO & is Roar of Time good?
If you've just caught yourself an Origin Forme Dialga in Pokemon GO, we've got details of its best moveset and why Roar of Time is a game-changer.
Origin Forme Dialga has finally made its debut in Pokemon GO, but you'll need to know the best moveset for this Hisuian Pokemon if you want it to reach its full potential.
Dialga has long been regarded as one of the best Legendaries in the game, but it's about to get a whole lot stronger with the arrival of Origin Forme Dialga and its signature attack Roar of Time!
Best moveset for Origin Forme Dialga
The best moveset for Origin Forme Dialga in Pokemon GO is Dragon Breath as a Fast Move combined with Roar of Time and Iron Head as Charged Moves.
Dragon Breath is pretty much essential, as it provides excellent STAB damage that comes in very handy in the Master League. Combined with Dialga's resistance to Dragon-type attacks, this helps make it a big threat to pretty much all of the Dragons that reign supreme in the meta.
To complement this, you'll also want Origin Forme Dialga's signature Dragon-type attack Roar of Time. This is a much better alternative to Draco Meteor, as it's just as devastating (150 Power for 65 Energy) but doesn't have the risky self-debuff of the latter Charged Move.
If you can afford a secondary Charged Move, I'd recommend the Steel-type attack Iron Head. As well as benefitting from STAB, it's Origin Forme Dialga's cheapest option, which is ideal for baiting shields or pushing some last-minute damage out when it's close to fainting.
The best thing about this moveset is that it also works for Raid Battles. Origin Forme Dialga is now one of the best Dragon-type attackers in the game, with Dragon Breath and Roar of Time pairing up to dish out some incredible damage to Dragon-type Raid Bosses.
If you don't have access to an Origin Forme Dialga that knows Roar of Time, don't panic - simply switch it out for Draco Meteor and it will still be very effective in both Trainer Battles and Raids! Just watch out for that self-debuff to Attack that I mentioned earlier.
All moves Origin Forme Dialga can learn
Origin Forme Dialga can learn two Fast Moves and four Charged Moves, which you can see below:
Fast Moves
- Dragon Breath (Dragon)
- Metal Claw (Steel)
Charged Moves
- Draco Meteor (Dragon)
- Iron Head (Steel)
- Roar of Time (Dragon)
- Thunder (Electric)
Is Roar of Time good?
Roar of Time is without a doubt the best Charged Move that Origin Forme Dialga can learn in Pokemon GO - so if you're lucky enough to catch one that knows this attack, don't remove it!
Paired with Dragon Breath, this new signature Charged Move makes Origin Forme Dialga one of the biggest threats in the Master League and also one of the best Dragon-type attackers for Raid Battles. I can't wait to catch one during Pokemon GO Tour: Sinnoh and put it to good use!
Additionally, Roar of Time can be used as an Adventure Effect outside of battle. This will temporarily pause the timer on items like Incense, Eggs, and Star Pieces, which can be invaluable especially if you're trying to find one of the Galarian Legendary birds with Daily Adventure Incense.
If you're wondering how Origin Forme Dialga compares to its counterpart Origin Forme Palkia, the bad news is that Palkia looks like it will fare slightly better in the Master League and as a Dragon-type attacker. That's not to say Dialga is bad by any means - if anything, it's just an incentive to catch both Legendaries!
