Pokemon Scarlet and Violet character customisation is an important, if slightly lacking, part of the game. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is a new generation for the series in more ways than one, going open-world for the first time. Character customisation is an aspect of the game that has many positives, but seemingly there were some sacrifices made in the name of progress. Here is everything you need to know about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet character customisation.

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Character Customisation

Upon starting the game for the first time, you will need to create your character. Your first choice is one of a series of base designs, then you get to customise the individual details. One of the nice features here is that the game does not specify much about gender or race, simply allowing you to choose whatever features you like.

After choosing your base character, you can go through all of the individual parts. These include the shape of your eyes, your lips, your eyebrows and your eyelashes. You can add makeup and freckles, and you can choose the colours of all of the above.

One of the most important facets of creating your character is customising your hair. Regardless of your character's base appearance or what gender they may appear to be, no hairstyle is locked out or unavailable. As such, you have full customisation control over your look. There is a long list of hairstyles, and an even longer list of colours to choose from.

The good news is that you can customise all of these options at any time during the game, aside from your gender and skin colour, all features can be altered at any time. The less good news is the depth of customisation options beyond the initial choices. Seemingly, a baffling design decision or a technical limitation has led to a massive reduction in clothing options from previous Pokemon games.

There are some options, more to do with accessories than clothing. When you visit towns and cities throughout the game, you can go to shops to purchase shoes, bags, gloves, glasses and hats. There are long lists of options for each accessory, you can get any of them in almost any colour. It is just disappointing, especially after having so many great clothing options in the last few Pokemon games, to limit the options to minor accessories.

In terms of clothing options, you have four outfits to choose from. Those are the four seasonal variations of the school uniform, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Each one is appropriate to its time of the year; Summer has your character in shorts, whereas the Winter uniform wraps you up. Regardless, your uniform will adhere to your school's colours, either scarlet or violet, depending on your version.

That is it for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet character customisation. For more on the game, check out our Pokemon Scarlet and Violet gym leaders guide.
