Best Vaporeon Tera Raid Build in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Full Build
Greninja is a speedy, hard-hitter attacker in both Sp. Attack and Attack. So, like our Slowbro Tera Raid build, this Vaporeon focuses on bolstering its Sp. Defence and Defence before striking back with a powerfully stacked Sp. Atk move.
- Ability: Water Absorb
- Nature: Modest
- Tera Type: Psychic
- Hold Item: Life Orb
- EVs: 252 HP, 252 Sp. Atk, 6 Sp. Def
- Moveset: Acid Armor, Calm Mind, Stored Power, Wish
Acquiring the essential Water Absorb is easy since that is Vaporeon's only non-hidden ability. Altering Vaporeon's Tera-type from Water to Psychic, however, will take an extra step. Whilst Vaporeon can naturally only have a Water Tera-type, you can pay 50 Psychic Tera Shards at the Medali gym Treasure Eatery.
Strategy
From the beginning, the key to the strategy in this Vaporeon Greninja Tera Raid build is boosting its defenses and Sp. Atk with Acid Armor and Calm Mind. Greninja will initially make some heavy damage in-between moves, so that's when Wish comes in to recover Vaporeon's health whilst steadily becoming a stat-boosted tank.
The heart of this best Vapreon build is in Stored Power. Starting off with a mere Base Power of 20, Stored Power's increases by another 20 for every stat increase by the user - up to a maximum of 860 Base Power.
Acid Armor and Calm Mind provide two stat increases with each use, twice for Defense and once each for Sp. Def and Sp. Atk respectively. With just a couple of uses with each move, Stored Power will become an absolute behemoth of a move by the time you use it.
Along with its super-effective damage to Greninja's Poison Tera typing, Vaporeon's Stored power will be further increased by its Modest nature, its heavy investment of Sp. Atk EVs, and Life Orb held item giving an extra 30% damage boost.
If the 10% per-use cost of the Life Orb added with whatever damage Greninja can do at this point ends up being a bit too much, you can use Wish once again to guarantee your Vaporeon's survivability in the late stage of the raid.
