The 7-Star Decidueye Tera Raid will be around in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet from Friday, 17 March 2023. Many players will be eager to catch the Rowlett evolution in the game for the first time. However, its level and typing will make it a difficult foe. So, let's get into the best Decidueye Tera Raid counters in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet - along with their full builds.
- Here are the exact Decidueye Tera Raid dates and times.
Best Decidueye Tera Raid counters in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Although a dual Grass and Ghost-type, the Decidueye in this Tera Raid will have a Flying Tera-type. This means that not only will your chosen Pokemon need to be strong enough to combat a level 100 boss, but also be able to withstand a move set comprising of all three types.
Altogether, the best type to go for here would be an Electric-type Pokemon, as resistance to Flying-type moves will also half the damage. Of course, boasting a high Attack stat will still make Decidueye quite the challenge, so your chosen Electric type will need to be a tank as well.
Miraidon
Of course more doable for Pokemon Violet players, those who own Pokemon Scarlet can get their own Miraidon through trading. Whilst not only being an Electric-type, the legendary Paradox Pokemon's additional Dragon-type also makes it resistant to both Grass and Electric-type attacks altogether.
The best Miraidon Decidueye Tera Raid build is as follows:
- Ability: Hadron Engine
- Nature: Modest
- Tera Type: Electric
- Hold Item: Terrain Extender
- EVs: 252 Sp. Attack, 252 HP, 4 Def
- Moveset: Calm Mind, Electro Drift, Metal Sound, Parabolic Charge
It's high Sp. Atk and bulk make it quite the durable heavy hitter. Not only to Calm Mind and Metal Sound respectively boost Miraidon's Sp. Atk whilst lowering Decidueye's, Electro Drift and Parabolic Charge will get boosted STAB damage. Whilst the unique Electro Drift gets a further boost by being super-effective, Parabolic Charge will partly heal Miraidon whilst dealing damage as well.
Bellibolt
Although one of the easier Electric-types to find in Scarlet and Violet, Bellibolt is a fantastic heft tank with lots of survivability.
The best Miraidon Decidueye Tera Raid build is as follows:
- Ability: Electromorphosis
- Nature: Modest
- Tera Type: Electric
- Hold Item: Life Orb
- EVs: 252 Sp. Attack, 252 HP, 4 Def
- Moveset: Acid Spray, Electric Terrain, Thunderbolt, Parabolic Charge
Although not initially the most powerful attacker amongst Decidueye Tera Raid counters, whilst Acid Spray lowers the boss' Sp. Def by two stages, Bellibolt will be ready to hit hard with Thunderbolt that's boosted even further by both Electric Terrain and the Life Orb - or Parabolic Charge if needed to restore health.
Iron Hands
Another Paradox Pokemon that can only usually be found in Pokemon Violet, Iron Hands is also obtainable for Pokemon Scarlet players looking to trade. Although equipped with a high Attack stat, Iron Hands packs incredible tank durability with a monstrous HP stat.
The best Miraidon Decidueye Tera Raid build is as follows:
- Ability: Quark Drive
- Nature: Adamant
- Tera Type: Electric
- Hold Item: Shell Bell
- EVs: 252 Attack, 252 HP, 4 SP. Def
- Moveset: Belly Drum, Electric Terrain, Rock Tomb, Thunder Punch
The potential of this Iron Hands Decidueye Tera Raid build lies in its bulky defence helping it survive whilst its Attack for maximum damage, after slowing Decidueye turn in the process. After Belly Drum of course maximises Iron Hands' Attack stat, a following use of Rock Tomb will lower Decidueye's Speed, along with the Shell Bell recovering some of Iron Hands' HP thanks to the move's super-effective damage.
Paired with Electric Terrain, the STAB damage using Thunderpunch and the held Quark Drive that further increases Iron Hands' Attack, you'll have the biggest physical hitter you could ask for in a Decidueye Tera Raid counter.
