You may want to know all the Project Zomboid platforms, and if the game is coming to console in the future? Project Zomboid is a hardcore survival RPG set during the zombie apocalypse, which is currently in its tenth year of early access on Steam.

Over the years, development progress has been made slowly, but it's shaping up to be the most complex zombie survival simulation on the market, forcing players to think about every aspect of living through the end times.

So, check out our breakdown of the current Project Zomboid platforms, and where or not it will release on console.

All Project Zomboid platforms: Is it coming to console?

Currently, Project Zomboid is only available on PC for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux, where it's in early access on the Steam store. It's also playable on the Steam Deck.

The developers have been asked multiple times over the years about the potential of a console release for the game, with them finally answering publicly on Twitter in February 2023.

After a user asked if they have plans to release the game on console or mobile devices, the official Indie Stone account replied, "the way PZ is coded means that it is extremely difficult to port. As such we are currently only focused on our current platforms, but nothing is ruled out for the future."

Essentially, this means they have no plans to deviate from solely developing the game for PC right now, but a console release could possibly come in the future.

We'd imagine that The Indie Stone plan on finishing the game and getting it out of early access on PC before they start thinking about porting it to other platforms but based on their answer above, they could start the process prior to the 1.0 release.

There's currently no release date for the full version of the game, but build 42 is expected to launch sometime this year, introducing an overhaul for crafting and balance changes.

That's all for our explainer of the Project Zomboid platforms, and whether the game will release on consoles. Now you know there are no plans for a console release, but it is possible in the future.
