Where to find PUBG Erangel secret rooms & how to get keys
It's tricky to know exactly where to find all of the secret rooms on Erangel in PUBG, but we've got everything you need, including how to get all of the keys.
Highlights:
- There are 15 secret rooms hidden around Erangel, all of which hold powerful items that will help you win a match of PUBG
- You can unlock these rooms via keys, which spawn in random locations on the map
Looting is the name of the game in any battle royale, but PUBG lets players access some of the best gear with the use of secret rooms. Finding these and accessing them can be difficult though, so I've mapped out every secret room location on the Erangel map.
The game is still going strong years on from its initial release, and a lot has changed in that time with new maps, weapons, modes, and features. Erangel didn't start with secret rooms, so even if you remember it from back in the day, you'll still need help accessing these havens of top-tier loot.
Where are the secret rooms in Erangel?
There are a total of 15 secret rooms to be found on the Erangel map, with them dotting all regions of the play area, as seen in the image below.
These secret areas are designated by a wooden door in the floor that leads down to a bunker when blown up.
All you need to do to blow the wooden door off is either shoot it or use explosives, but you will need to have a key to enter and unlock the metal door into the bunker/secret room itself.
Getting keys and entering Erangel secret rooms
Unfortunately, the only way to enter secret rooms on Erangel is to find keys, and these keys randomly spawn across the map. While this does help it be less contested than if there were fixed locations, there is no guarantee that you will find a key in every game, meaning that the loot chance is a lot more random.
Furthermore, using a key to unlock one secret room will destroy it, so to unlock more than one you will need to find multiple keys in the one Erangel match.
One thing that I find to be very helpful to avoid this frustration though is to wait around for someone else to open the room for you, or try and find a room that has already been opened.
I have had many instances where nobody has arrived, or no rooms have been opened, but if you're lucky you will not only be able to skip the key process, but also pick up a kill in the meantime too.
Level 3 loot can be found in these secret rooms, with random spawns that will potentially give you some of the strongest gear in the game. While gear is only as good as the person wielding it, this will give you a significant advantage and hopefully put you on the path to your next chicken dinner.
If you're lucky enough to get a key and begin looting one of these rooms, I suggest you close the door behind you so you don't risk someone creeping up behind you. If an enemy does pop by to take you out, you'll at least have the warning of the door opening.
