Check out our primer on how to get the Raft Advanced Scarecrow.
You will want to know how to get the Raft Advanced Scarecrow, as it's one of the most useful structures in the game when building up a farm, acting as a deterrent to Seagulls who want to munch on your crops. Raft is a survival crafting game set in a large open ocean, so the typical tenants of the genre, like hunger and thirst are here, meaning you will want to make sustainable food sources when you get the chance. So if you're sick of dealing with the pesky Seagulls, here's how to get the Raft Advanced Scarecrow.
- We also have a full breakdown of the lengthy process for getting the Raft Crane Key, which involves taking on the Rhino Shark boss.
How To Get The Raft Advanced Scarecrow
The Raft Advanced Scarecrow is an item that needs to be purchased from a tier three Trading Post, meaning it will take some work on your part before you can buy one. Trading Posts are found on medium to large non-story islands, so they aren't too difficult to track down, and their coloured lighting hanging on the outside makes them unmistakable. Once you have found one, make a note, as you will want to focus your effort on upgrading it.
The next step is to construct the Raft Recycler, which is a structure that lets you input spare resources to create Trash Cubes which are a form of currency for trading. You can find this relatively early into the game, at the Radio Tower story location. You'll need to get the Receiver to guide you there, and the blueprints for the Recycler can be found at the top of the tower. Head back to your raft and build it so you can start making Trash Cubes.
The next step is to go back to the Trading Post and purchase special bait. These come in three types, Simple, Advanced, and Expert Fishing Bait, and they are used for catching tier one, tier two, and tier three rare fish. Collecting these fish and selling them to Trading Posts will net you some Trade Coins, while also earning you reputation at that Trading Post, which is used to upgrade their tiers. Better fish will earn you more reputation, and the goal here is to get the Trading Post to the third tier.
Once you've got the Trading Post to tier three, you will be able to purchase the Advanced Scarecrow for eight Trash Cubes and ten Trade Coins, along with other items such as the Pirate Hat, and Raft Diving Helmet. Placing it next to your crops is will stop any Seagulls from attacking them and ruining your sources of food, and unlike the basic Scarecrow, this cannot be destroyed, giving you permanent protection.
That's all for our guide on how to get the Raft Advanced Scarecrow, and now you know how useful it is for survival, along with the process for acquiring it.
Make sure you have the best farm possible by also crafting the Raft Advanced Crop Plot, which are the most efficient at growing crops.
