Resident Evil 4 was always one of the more chunky games in the series, so you may be wondering how long it takes to complete the new remake. With plenty of content re-imagined, we can’t really look to the previous version to gauge how long we’ll be spending with Leon this time around.

From our time with the game, we’ve managed to gauge roughly how long players can expect to be playing Resident Evil 4 Remake. Whether you’re just here for the story or want to uncover everything the game has hidden, keep reading to find out how long it will all take you.

How long does it take to beat the story?

If you’re just looking to complete the main story, then you can expect to set aside around 18 hours in total. This will see you sail through the story at a breakneck pace, skipping much of the side content and collectible tasks.

This is an increase of a few hours over the original version of the game. Capcom has reimagined several areas of the game into much longer segments. Not only does this help to flesh out the world a bit, but it also means you’ll have longer to spend exploring the horrific sights of rural Spain.

How long does it take to beat the game as a completionist?

However, if you’re more of a completionist player, then you’ll want to set aside much more time to finish everything that Resident Evil 4 has to offer. With side quests and collectibles scattered throughout the main story, there’s more to do than just sail through the main story.

As such, you can probably expect to spend anywhere from 30-35 hours with Resident Evil 4 if you scour every nook and cranny. Some of the collectibles are particularly hard to find, like the Crow Nest in the Scratched Emerald questline. Finding them all will take some serious effort, and one helluva timesink.
