Resident Evil 4 Remake is similar to the iconic original in many ways, but there are some brand-new features that have been added to expand the game. While many of these changes relate to the combat, the Merchant and how you interact with him has also been changed.

Perhaps the biggest change is that you can now trade with the Merchant in addition to buying and selling items, so check out our rundown for getting Spinels.

How do you get Spinels?

Spinels are a resource in Resident Evil 4 Remake that can be traded in at the Merchant, allowing you to get special items like treasure maps, gemstones, weapon attachments, yellow herbs, and more.

In the original game, Spinels was just a normal treasure that could be found and sold, but Capcom specified its use this time, along with how you acquire it.

How to get Spinel in Resident Evil 4 Remake

There are two ways to get Spinels. Firstly, you can complete requests for the Merchant. These are little blue pages you can find in some areas that give you side objectives, such as shooting Blue Medallions. Once you finish the objective, you can then hand in the contract to the Merchant and be rewarded with Spinels.

The other way of acquiring them is by destroying crates, though this is extremely rare;  we only found any three times over the whole game.

How to use them

Once you have some saved up, you can head to the Merchant to trade with it.

Just interact with the Merchant, select the 'Trade' option at the bottom of the menu. It's worth noting that you cannot refund anything bought with Spinels, so be sure about the trade you are making before confirming it.

We recommend  treasure maps and yellow herbs as a priority, as the former makes getting treasure to sell much easier, and the latter lets you increase your maximum health.

Another Merchant request tasks you with collecting a specific egg, so check out where to find the Gold Chicken Egg in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
