Rise of the Ronin has difficulty settings, here's how you can change them
Here is everything you need to know about what difficulty options there are in the new game Rise of the Ronin, including how you can change them whenever you want.
Rise of the Ronin falls into the Soulslike genre, infamous for offering immense challenge and sparking debate about difficulty in games - so it's worth knowing about the game's difficulty settings.
Team Ninja has developed plenty of challenging games in the past and if you enjoyed the Nioh series, you’ll be surprised to find out that you can change the difficulty of the studio's latest outing that takes us to 19th Century Japan.
All difficulty settings explained
When firing up the game for the first time, you'll be asked to choose between three different difficult settings:
- Dawn
- Dusk
- Twilight
Dawn is the easiest option and comes with features like increasing your health recovery and how much Ki is lost from attacks.
Dusk and Twilight don't have the same level of customisation and instead will need you to unlock the skills to get things like health recovery.
These two modes also increase how much damage enemies do, how much health they have, and how aggressive they are in combat - making it much easier to get overwhelmed.
How to change difficulty in Rise of the Ronin
You can also change the difficulty whenever you want in Rise of the Ronin, so if you do start to find the game a bit too easy that's fine you always have the option. To change the difficulty follow the steps below:
- Pause the game with the Options button
- Go to System in the pause menu
- Click on Game Settings
- Difficulty is the top option available
There's also a trophy for completing a mission on the hardest difficulty, for any of the trophy hunters out there. If you're struggling with an enemy, the game may suggest you knock the difficulty down a touch, so that's the other way to do it.
