Solve the Block A6 lockpick puzzle to open the staff door in Signalis
Signalis loves a good door puzzle, here are some tips to get you through one of the early puzzles.
The Block A6 lockpick puzzle is one of the early brainteasers in the game. Signalis is a homage to classic survival horror games, with a blend of horror, action, and puzzles. The Block A6 lockpick puzzle is a bit finicky, so we have put together some tips to help you out. Here is everything you need to know to solve the Signalis Block A6 lockpick puzzle.
Where is the service hatch key?
While exploring the B2 Worker Accommodations area in the early goings of the game, you will come to a sealed door at the top of Block A6. Beside it is a body with a note, stating that the lock is jammed and a locksmith is required to get it open again.
The note also mentions a service hatch key, and if you interact with the door itself, you will discover you need this key in order to pick the lock and open the door. Unfortunately, the key is not on the body, so we need to go looking for it.
Go south out of Block A6 into the South Corridor, then head west into the Elevator Lobby. On the north side of the lobby, there are two elevator doors. Go into the one on the left and you will enter first-person mode. Interact with the elevator controls on the left side to move your perspective close to them.
You don't need to do anything with the controls right now, what we need is the Service Hatch Key, which is on the small table at the bottom of your screen. Grab the key then head back to the Block A6 door.
Solving the puzzle and opening the door
With the Service Hatch Key now in your inventory, head back to the door and use it to open the service hatch. When the hatch is open, you will be faced with the inner workings of the door. On the right, there is a yellow and blue device attached to a keyhole. Interact with it to zoom in and use the controls.
You will be faced with four sets of up and down buttons, a large F button, and a display showing the pins inside the lock. If you have ever played a lockpicking mini-game, much of this will be familiar to you. The goal is to get the lines on all of the pins to line up with the central line on the display.
Each of the up/down buttons moves the notches in the lockpicking device up and down, simulating a key. You must move them into the correct positions to unlock the door.
This part of the puzzle is best solved through gradual trial and error. Focus on one pin at a time, line it up then move on to the next one. Start by pressing the F button, this makes the device attempt to open the lock.
When it does so, you can see how far each pin is from where it needs to be. Starting with one pin, move it up or down gradually, and hit the F button when you think you are close. Once your first pin is correct, repeat the process with the next pin. Once all four pins are aligned, press the F button and the door will be unlocked.
