Everything you need to know about the puzzle with Tarot cards & moon phrases in Signalis
Signalis puts players to the test in Rotfront, with a massive puzzle that involves Tarot cards and moon phases. Here is everything you need to know to solve these puzzles.
The Tarot puzzle is a two-step puzzle that requires both exploration and problem-solving. Signalis is heavily inspired by the classic survival horror games of the 90s, and puzzles are a big part of that. The Tarot puzzle is later in the game, and it can be quite a memory and deduction challenge. Here is everything you need to know to solve the Tarot puzzle.
Magpie Box, the Star Card, and the Moon Card
For the Star card, we are going to need to solve the antenna puzzle and open the Magpie box. The Magpie box is on the upper floor, in the Hospital Room. To begin, you need to head to the larger Apartment between the Hospital Hallway and the Blue Hallway.
Here you need to grab the Handwheel, then head to the Ground Floor. Go to the Pipeworks room and use the Handwheel to clear out the fumes. Now you can go to the next room and grab the Blue Diskette.
Next, you need the Red Diskette. For this, you need to jump down through the Meat Grinder to the Metro Station level. Head through the Computer Store to the Fire Escape, then head up to the Upper Floor. Now you can explore the rooms on the other side of this area, and grab the Red Diskette from the Dentist Room.
While you are in this area, head to Butterfly Room. Inside you will find a safe with a four-letter combination. On the wall is a display case with some butterflies in it. If you look closely at the butterflies, you can see letters on each of them. The letters are AEON, which is the code for the safe. Open the safe and grab the Moon card from inside.
With both diskettes in hand, head to the Blockwart Office and use them both with the computer. Open the Antenna program on the computer, you will have a grid of antennae and two receivers that you can rotate. On the right side, you will see instructions telling you to set your radio frequency; 210.000Khz for the left receiver and 125.000Khz for the right. Set your radio, then rotate the corresponding receiver.
You will notice a tune is audible from both frequencies when you move in line with antenna 43. Line both receivers up with the number 43, click the X in the top left corner, click on the Transmit icon, then select antenna 43 and the Magpie file. Finally, head back to the Magpie box in the Hospital Room.
Turn on your radio to one of the two previously mentioned frequencies, and the box will open, revealing the Star card and the Store Key.
Starting with the Lovers card, you need to head to the Ground Floor of the apartment building. Go to the Disinfection Room and grab the acetone. Then head to the Dormitory and use the acetone on the painting to get the Lovers card.
For the Tower card, go to the Meat Grinder room, just east of the Disinfection Room. Head down through the meat grinder and you will be in the Metro Station area. Make your way through this area to the Public House, where you will find the Tower card on the counter.
To get the Sun card, we need the Store Key we got from the Magpie box earlier. First, head to the Dark Apartment on the Upper Floor and pick up the Developing Tank. Then, head down to the Metro Station level. Exit through the south end of the Public House, then go into the next room to the West, the Photo Store.
Pick up the Developing Fluid on the counter and combine it with the tank to get a Photograph. Exit the Photo Store to the south, then go west into the Cables Hallway. Now go north into the Packstation, where you will find a Scanner. Use the Photograph with the Scanner to open the hatch and get the Sun card.
Finally, the Death card. This one involves the computer in the Blockwart Office we used to open the Magpie box. Look through the messages on it, specifically the 'Re:Bookstore Keys' message. It mentions that there is a back door locked with a code, and the code is the birthdate of the owner's daughters. Check out the Medibank to find two girls with the same birthday, the twin sisters Erika and Isolde Itou.
The last six digits of their PKZ is their birthday, which is 560524. Now head to the Commercial Corridor on the Ground Floor, and exit into the Backyard. There is a door with a keypad, enter the six-digit code to open the door and enter the Bookstore. Inside, check the cabinet to find the Death card.
Now we are onto the home stretch of the puzzle. While exploring and grabbing Tarot cards, you likely picked up the Patient's Key in the Computer Store on the Metro Station level. If not, head there now and grab the key. We need it to enter the Meat Room on the Upper Floor.
Once you have the key, head to the Meat Room and go inside to find the Tarot Table. You will need to bring all six Tarot cards here, so either bring them in batches or empty your inventory and make a very careful run to the room.
The goal here is to place all six cards in their corresponding locations. There is a diary in the room that heavily hints to which place each card goes. You can read the diary to figure it out, but the locations are as follows;
Card |
Location |
Sun |
Buyan |
Star |
Heimat |
Tower |
Vineta |
Lovers |
Kitezh |
Death |
Leng |
Moon |
Rotfront |
With all six cards in their correct locations, you can hit the switch in the top left to turn on the black light. This will show the various moon phases that you need to transfer to the moons in the Atrium, so take note of them. With that done, head to the Atrium with the large mural. Just south of it, you will find there is a ring on the floor that wasn't there before. Pick it up, it is part of the puzzle.
Now interact with the mural to see the six planets represented. Each one can be rotated, and rotating them changes the position of the moon phase. Interact with Rotfront to reattach the circle you found on the ground. You need to align each moon phase with what you say on the cards. The solution is the following;
Planet |
Position |
Buyan |
Full (no blue in the circle) |
Vineta |
Small shadow on the left |
Kitezh |
Small shadow on the right |
Rotfront |
Eclipsed (fully blue) |
Heimat |
Small shadow on the left |
Leng |
Large shadow on the left |
As soon as you have all six in the correct positions, the hole in the centre of the mural will expand and you can enter, completing the area.
