How to get debug items in The Sims 4
Here's how to use a cheat in The Sims 4 to gain access to a large selection of debug items, all of which can be used to decorate your lots for even more choices in-game.
Highlights:
- You'll need to enable cheats first in The Sims 4 before you can use this cheat
- Two codes can help you gain access to debug items: 'bb.showhiddenobjects' and 'bb.showliveeditobjects'
By using cheats in The Sims 4, you can gain access to debug items that aren't typically accessible by default and use them to decorate your lots.
These objects are also an easy way to access all the collectables in the game, such as the MySimsGo! Trophies, frogs, and more - so to get the cheat for yourself and expand the decorative items available to you, keep reading.
How to enable cheats
Before you can get started with the debug cheat, you'll first need to bring up the cheat box and follow the instructions below according to the platform you're playing on:
- If you're a PC user, press CTRL + Shift +C
- For Mac, press Command + Shift +C
- On, console it's simply a case of pressing in all four triggers
Once that's done, a white box will show up in the top-left of your screen, as shown in the image below:
Next, type 'testingcheats on' (without the single quotes) into the box, press enter, and you'll be good to head into the following step.
Debug items cheat in The Sims 4
Before you can enter Build/Buy Mode to place all the debug pieces, you'll need to enter two cheats: 'bb.showhiddenobjects' and 'bb.showliveeditobjects'
With that done, you can now access the many debug items hidden away in The Sims 4's catalogue. To do so, simply enter 'debug' into the search bar (as shown above) and scroll through the items available.
Unfortunately, categories do not apply to debug items, without mods enabled, so they won't be automatically sorted into categories for you. This means you'll have to do a fair amount of scrolling as you browse - but there's loads on offer so you're bound to find something you'll enjoy using.
Now that you're familiar with debug items, make sure to head over to our homepage for The Sims, where you'll find the best mods to download, how you can size up objects, or even a rundown of the Disney Princess Challenge rules or a Doctor diagnosis list.
