God of War Ragnarok, like many single-player titles, is a narrative-driven experience in which the story works in tandem with the gameplay.
However, if you are at all not bothered about what is happening in the plot and just want to get to the hacking and slashing, you may wonder if cutscenes can be skipped.
Can you skip cutscenes?
You cannot skip cutscenes in God of War Ragnarok. This is by default, and there are no options to turn on the ability to skip them in the settings on your first playthrough.
However, the option to skip cutscenes was added to the New Game+ mode which launched after the release. This means if you're returning for a second and more challenging run of the game, you don't need to sit through all the cutscenes you've already seen.
This all was the same back in God of War 2018, and will likely continue as a norm for the franchise going forward - at least if it keeps the same cinematic gameplay style as the two most recent entries.
