Solar Ash Tips: 5 Things You Need To Know
Need some Solar Ash tips to crack the indie hit? Here's everything you need to know to master the game.
These Solar Ash tips if you want to make your way through one of the most hotly anticipated indie titles of the year, especially after the delay. Heart Machine's bizarre, avant-garde story and immaculate presentation have impressed players so far - but there are some things you'll need to know before jumping into Solar Ash.
This isn't a game that spells everything out to you, and is more willing to let you figure things out as you go - luckily for you though, we're here to fill you in on everything we wish we knew about the game when we started. Here are five Solar Ash tips that will help you on your journey to save your planet.
Solar Ash Tips: Plasma Is The Primary Currency
Before you get started, you need to know the importance of Plasma. Plasma is the resource you'll find easily across the void, and it's very easy to collect it, but it's not immediately obvious how crucial it is. You'll use it as your primary currency to upgrade your health with synthesis available from Cyd.
Every time you take down one of the colossal Remnants, you'll lose a canister of health, so you need to be constantly collecting and topping up your shields. Don't miss any - you'll rue that you did.
Solar Ash Tips: Voidrunner Caches Unlock Suit Parts
Dotted around the map, you'll find Voidrunner Caches as your main "collectible". They'll give you a greater insight into the way the Ultravoid works through the lens of fellow Voidrunners, friendly or not.
It's worth knowing, though, that each of these caches will grant you a piece of a brand new suit that you can equip to grant yourself new buffs and abilities. Find all five caches in an area and you'll unlock something new to help you on your journey.
Solar Ash Tips: Journals Provide Extra Lore
Also scattered across the world are pieces of the journal of Tarragon Danderpaw, a mysterious figure who you'll discover has a lot to say about the ever-shifting Ultravoid. If you want any chance of 100% completing the game, you'll have to find them all - and they're not exactly easy to spot.
If you find any piece of paper sat out for you to inspect, make sure you read it, as you might be lucky enough to get a peek into Danderpaw's mind.
Solar Ash Tips: Use The Boost Sparingly
Now, perhaps the most important part of Solar Ash - its movement. It might be tempting to absolutely blast the boost button to keep your speed high (as after all, reaching huge speeds is immensely satisfying), but chances are, you'll only distract yourself by spamming and miss those all-important jumps. Do yourself a favour - keep it to a minimum.
Solar Ash Tips: Only Use Double-Jump As A Failsafe
Speaking of those jumps, mind yourself when you're going to double-jump. Especially when you're on the back of a Remnant, it's very easy to overcorrect when you're hopping from backplate to backplate, and travelling at the speeds you will be, you'll want to only use the double jump as a failsafe. You might surprise yourself - that first hop can carry you far.
That's all you'll need to know to be able to master Solar Ash straight out the gate. Happy Voidrunning!
