What does Strength do in Sons of the Forest?
It's not really explained in-game, but Strength does matter in Sons of the Forest. Find out what Strength does and how to increase it!
Sons of the Forest features four major stats: Hunger, Thirst, Rest, and Strength. Hunger, Thirst, and Rest are self-explanatory, but what does Strength do in Sons of the Forest?
This primer explains Strength, including how it helps and how to increase it in the open-world survival horror simulator from Endnight Games.
What does Strength do?
To the far left of your Thirst, Hunger, and Rest stats on your in-game HUD is a symbol of a flexing arm - this represents your Strength. Every time the ring fills, you'll gain a level in Strength, up to a maximum of Level 50.
Strength is responsible for your maximum Health, and you'll gain a minuscule boost to your Melee Damage for every level you get in Strength. You begin your journey in Sons of the Forest with just four Heath bars, but at Level 50 Strength, you'll have eight bars of Health and deal 50% bonus Melee Damage.
How to increase your Strength
Your Strength will progressively increase whenever you swing weapons and tools. Whether you're chopping trees with the Modern Axe or slashing cannibals with the Katana, the simple action of swinging increases your Strength.
Alternatively, you can improve your Strength in Sons of the Forest by picking up logs. Carrying and setting logs down won't do anything for your Strength, but the initial act of picking them up makes you stronger!
If you're in a rush to increase your Strength quickly, you can continuously pick up and drop a set of logs over and over or rapidly swing a weapon with a high Speed like the Machete. Note that the latter strategy will tire you fast, so you'll need to monitor your Stamina along with your Hunger, Thirst, and Rest.
That's the basics of Strength in Sons of the Forest. While it's not glaringly obvious what Strength does, increasing this stat will make your time in Sons of the Forest go a lot smoother!
