As you get to the “A Second Chance” story mission in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, you may wonder if it’s worth completing the extra optional rides and games at the Coney Island fair to get a reward from the prize booth.
Although you can jump ahead to riding the Speed Demon rollercoaster and progressing the story, Peter hints at playing the other games to win something from the prize booth, making you curious as to whether it’s worth the effort.
So, let's get into whether you should play all of the optional rides and games at the Coney Island fair level in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and what rewards you can get.
SPOILER WARNING: This guide contains major spoilers for the events of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
Should you play the optional rides & games in Spider-Man 2?
Unless you’re in a hurry, yes, you should complete the optional rides and games in Spider-Man 2’s Coney Island fair level. While completing all of the games like whack-a-mole or the water gun booth doesn’t net you any trophies or long-term gameplay rewards, completing all of these optional objectives will let you pick between one of three funny hats as a prize: two of which are funny neon cowboy hats with giant glasses, and the other as a Cat in the Hat-style tall top hat.
Along with getting to wear some funky gear for the rest of the level, the extra time spent in the fair games section of SM2’s Coney Island will also let you experience some extra meaningful back-and-forth between Peter, Harry, and MJ.
What’s more, in what I believed to be an unintended bonus, some respawns during the combat sequences that followed against the Hunters ended up with Spider-Man wearing the neon cowboy hat and giant sunglasses I picked out for Peter as well.
Since they disappeared following another death and respawn, I can only assume this is a bug that may get eventually patched out of the game - but it’s a funny extra incentive to put in the time required to complete all of the Coney Island games and rides as well.
That’s everything you need to know about whether you should complete the Coney Island fair games and rides in Marvel’s Spider-Man and the rewards you can get for it.
