The Rancor Boss in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a formidable beast that can be extremely tough to take down depending on your chosen difficulty, so here's what you need to know about defeating it within the Sodden Grotto.

With multiple deadly attacks, learning how to defeat the Rancor isn't easy, but there are a number of tips you can use to bring down the beast in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Not only that, but to get the best experience, you'll want to find the Rancor boss through the 'Find the missing prospectors' rumour as it makes locating the Rancor significantly easier.

So, let's check out exactly how to defeat the Rancor in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor as well as its Sodden Grotto location and the reward you can expect to receive.

Find the missing prospectors rumour

While you can find the Rancor on your own in Jedi: Survivor, it's better to locate the beast through the rumour tied to the boss battle.

To start the rumour, head to Rambler's Reach Outpost Meditation Point and look around, where you'll see a woman standing next to a nearby Workbench. Speak to her and she'll start the 'Find the Missing Prospectors' rumour which will point you in the right direction of the boss on your map.

Sodden Grotto Rancor location in Star Wars Jedi Survivor

As we've mentioned, the Rancor is located in the Sodden Grotto which can be found through Hunter's Quarry. As mentioned above, if you've started the rumor, this will guide you in the correct direction of the boss. For reference, the exact location is showcased in the image above.

Don't worry about getting lost in the Sodden Grotto as it's easy to navigate and there's even a Meditation Point right outside the boss arena, meaning that if you do end up getting taken down by the Rancor, you don't have to go very far to restart the fight.

The Rancor boss fight is incredibly difficult, but it's possible to take down the giant creature if you know what attacks to look out for. In terms of the best stance for Cal to use, we'd recommend wielding the one you've levelled up the most, but Single is a brilliant choice that's well-balanced for attack and defence.

Here are the Rancor's main attacks to look for and how to avoid them:

Attack Type Method to Avoid
Rancor's Grab

This is a rushing grab attack that will instantly one-shot Cal. The Rancor will telegraph this attack by lighting up red and holding its left arm back.

As soon as you see this, dodge to the side and you'll easily avoid the strike before getting the chance to land a few hits on the beast.

Rancor's Ground Slam

This attack is telegraphed with the monster turning red and holding both arms in the air.

Similar to the grab, you can dodge to the side for this attack or double-jump so the shockwave passes underneath you.

Rancor's Standard Attack

The Rancor's standard attack is two melee strikes with its claws that can be easily dodged if you're paying attention.

Remember to weave in attacks after the two claw strikes as there's a window for easy damage, but be ready to dodge the next set of strikes.

Overall, a lot of Rancor's attacks are slow and simple to dodge if you're looking out for them. Just make sure to be patient and take your time dealing damage, as it may take you a while to bring down the beast.

Shatter perk Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

For defeating the Rancor in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, you'll be rewarded with the Shatter Perk, which makes Cal much more effective at breaking down a foe's block meta.

So, that's how to defeat the Rancor boss in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and what reward you can expect to claim for taking down the beast. Curious as to how Jedi: Survivor fits into the overarching lore? Check out whether Cal Kestis in canon in the Star Wars universe.
