Star Wars Outlaws: How to get distraction kills
Find out how to earn and complete distraction kills in Star Wars Outlaws, as they're some of the most useful tools in your arsenal and part of a key challenge.
One of the earliest ability unlock challenges in Star Wars Outlaws requires you to get distraction kills, and it can be confusing to figure out exactly what you need to do to progress.
While you can 'distract' enemies in a number of different abstract ways, there is one specific route you'll need to take in order to complete this particular challenge, which I've laid out for you below!
Distracting enemies
You can command Nix to cause a distraction by holding down L1/LB, aiming towards an open area, and then pressing X/A when the 'Distract' prompt pops up.
This will then cause your lovable pet to run over the area and pretend to be dead, making any nearby enemies lose focus and investigate the scene.
You can see which enemies will be triggered by the distraction by checking a squiggly line icon above their head. Distractions only work on one enemy initially, but you'll eventually be able to unlock an ability which activates multi-enemy distractions.
How to get distraction kills
Distraction kills are officially counted when you take down an enemy while they're still actively drawn away by Nix's distraction tactics.
You'll want to wait until the icon above their head has gone, as that appears to be the trigger that they've entered the distracted state.
I've not personally tested whether shooting them with your blaster still counts but I presume that it would only work if you use the electric shock shot.
Picking up distraction kills is an essential part of completing the 'Fast-Talk' ability challenge, and you'll need three in total to get it done.
However, I'd still recommend utilising this tactic throughout your playthrough, as it can be extremely helpful to reposition enemies, allowing you to pick up an easy kill or simply avoid them altogether.
