How To Beat Steelrising The Alchemist Of Luxembourg Boss

The Alchemist of Luxembourg is a story Titan boss that players will fight during the end of the Luxembourg level, allowing you to free Antoine Lavoisier.

This is also an important moment as it leads to unlocking the Cordeliers Convent where you can meet up with many of the main characters, learning lore, and getting side quests. The Alchemist is a tough boss that utilises all of the different elements in the game, making them highly resistant to any fire, frost, or fulmination effects. Here's a rundown of its attacks, along with tactics you can use to deal with it.

Attacks Effect Counter
Fire Bomb They will produce a cannon on their shoulder which launches a Fire Bomb that burns you.  Once the cannon is produced, wait for the bomb to be shot and dodge to the side.
Flash Swipe They will throw three flasks during a swipe-like animation, with each flash dealing different elemental damage.  One they start the animation, dodge toward the Alchemist to avoid them.
Charge They will jump back slightly and then charge toward you.

Dodge to the side once it gets close.

Melee Attacks They will swing their cauldron like a mace, striking sideways twice and then finishing with an overhead strike.

Dodge back or jump to avoid the side attacks.

Jab If you are close enough, it will use the pestle in its hand to jab you quickly.

Stay to the side or behind to avoid this, but you can also bait it out and jump over the attack.

Leg Sweep It will perform a leg sweep in a 360-degree angle, knocking you down if it connects.

Jump over the move to dodge.

Frozen Area (Phase 2) Once in phase two, it can pull out its exhaust vent and slam it down to create areas of frost on the ground near it.

Move away from it to avoid the frost by fighting in a new area.

Lighting Bolts (Phase 2) It will points its vent toward you and shoot lighting arcs in a cone.

Dodge backward three times if you are close, and stay away until it stops.

Inferno (Phase 2) Does a 360 and encircles itself with flame.

Dodge back just as the spin begins and stay away until the fire goes.

How To Beat Steelrising The Alchemist Of Luxembourg Boss

One of the best ways to deal with The Alchemist is explosive grenades, as they are able to knock it over consistently and allow you to get in some melee or ranged damage as a follow-up. These can be grabbed from the boutique if you are running low, but you should have a large collection from exploring by this point in the game.

Jumping attacks also work well against this boss due to the moveset it possesses, so if you are able to dodge a move by jumping, following it up with an air attack is a good way to get off some damage. Remember that The Alchemist has resistance to all of the elemental effects, so while you still can attempt to freeze them or set them on fire, it will have a lessened effect.

That's all for our breakdown of how to deal with the Steelrising The Alchemist of Luxembourg boss, and now you should be able to swiftly defeat the Titan.

We also have a breakdown of the Steelrising best weapons, which covers which armaments are worth using throughout the whole game.
