The Street Fighter 6 control types are a big step up in the fighting game scene. They make the genre more accessible with both modern and classic control styles. Street Fighter has been daunting for many. Hopefully, these Street Fighter 6 control types will make fighting games more attractive to casual players.

What are the Street Fighter 6 control types?
There are three different Street Fighter 6 control types available. The worst (and most beginner friendly) is Dynamic. You can turn your brain off with Dynamic as you can auto attack with the face buttons like circle or A. It will create a combo of AI-assisted attacks, but all creativity is taken away from the player.
The more promising of the Street Fighter 6 control types is Modern. Instead of combining movements of the stick with a face button, you can activate a special move by pressing the triangle button (or Y on Xbox). If you want to perform a Super Art, you input the triangle button with the heavy attack (circle or B). The process is simpler, but you still have some creativity in the combos you want to perform.
If you play through the Street Fighter 6 Tutorials, you'll gain more of an understanding of the revolutionary Modern control type. The barrier to entry has now drastically reduced, possibly leading to more Street Fighter 6 sales down the line than its predecessor. Capcom is hoping to reach 10 million lifetime sales for the game, according to Famitsu (via VGC). Will it sell as well as Tekken 7, which has sold over nine million?
- Street Fighter 6 has a great voice cast.
The tried and true: Classic
Lastly, there's the tried and true Classic control type. You're inputting moves with the direction of the D-Pad or fighting stick and a face button combined. It's the most complex out of the three but to many fighting game players, this is the way to go. If you progress through World Tour with the Classic mode, perhaps you'll master it by the end of the story.
Even Classic players will have to master new mechanics like Drive Rush, so we will be on a similar playing field from the beginning.
- You can train and fight CPUs in the Street Fighter 6 arcade mode.
Which Street Fighter 6 control types will be legal in Ranked?
Both Classic and Modern control types will be legal in Ranked mode. However, something to keep in mind is that you'll only be outputting 80% damage potential with the latter control type. You are encouraged to learn the Classic style when you feel you're ready. The developer has also confirmed in the Street Fighter 6 showcase that Classic and Modern control types will be allowed during Capcom Pro Tour matches as well.
