Super Mario RPG adds two new difficulty settings, and they’re wildly different
The new remake of Super Mario RPG has two new difficulty options, allowing players to have a totally different experience playing the revamped game.
Super Mario RPG is receiving a long-awaited remake, and it's shaping up to be a faithful recreation of the original. One major change in the remake is the addition of new difficulty settings.
These difficulty options are brand new to the game. After Super Mario Bros Wonder added difficulty settings in the form of different characters, Super Mario RPG on Switch will also have its own options you can choose from. We'll explain more about them below.
What are the difficulty settings in Super Mario RPG?
The two new difficulty settings in Super Mario RPG are Normal and Breezy mode. As far as we know there is no hard mode in the game.
As you might expect, Normal is the standard mode that most players will be playing the game on. This is the mode most similar to the original game's difficulty.
Breezy mode is for players who want a more casual experience. It will make the game easier, so if you're looking for a stress-free experience you might want to consider playing on Breezy difficulty. However, the original game isn't super demanding so Normal mode should be a solid pick for anyone else.
What else is changing in Super Mario RPG?
Some more new features include a Bestiary that will provide information about different enemies, new post-game content in the form of boss rematches, and new battle mechanics including special moves.
I'm a big fan of being able to look at all the different enemies I've encountered in games like this, so a Bestiary is a very cool addition. The new post-game content should also help to add some more challenge to the game once you've beaten it.
And of course, the biggest change is the game's enhanced graphics. It looks pretty stunning while still retaining some of the charm of the original title.
