Purple Coins are an important resource in Super Mario Bros Wonder that lets you buy everything from Badges to extra Wonder Seeds, so here are the best ways to farm them fast.

Just like every other Mario game, the excellent Super Mario Bros Wonder on Nintendo Switch features loads of collectables to discover while rushing through each level - including the brand-new Purple Coins.

Officially known as Flower Coins, these shiny collectables are used to purchase items from the Poplin Shops you'll find scattered throughout each world, so you'll definitely want to stock up on as many as you can.

Purple Coins aren't as common as their classic golden counterparts, so we've put together a few tips on how to farm them as quickly as possible so you can shop 'til you drop at the Poplin Shop.

Best levels to farm Purple Coins in Super Mario Wonder

Here are some of the top levels you can speed-run through to farm Purple Coins in Super Mario Bros Wonder:

Expert Badge Challenges

One of the easiest ways to farm Purple Coins in Super Mario Bros Wonder is to replay the Badge Challenges located in each world, particularly the Expert Badge Challenges. Although the number of Purple Coins in these levels isn't mind-blowing, they are typically very short and you won't lose lives for failing them, making them ideal for grinding.

The earliest Expert Badge Challenge you can unlock is Jet Run I in World 1 (Pipe-Rock Plateau). You can get to this level after locating the secret exit in Bulrush Express. To do that, you simply need to ride the rampaging Bulrushes to the end of the level and use an Elephant Fruit power-up to smash through the bricks to the right of the warp pipe. Here, you'll find another warp pipe to access the secret exit.

Once you've left the Bulrush Express secret exit, you'll then have two more levels to beat before arriving at the Jet Run I Expert Badge Challenge level. As well as being a great Purple Coin farming level, you'll also get the Jet Run badge when you complete it, which gives you a continuous speed boost!

If you get bored of playing Jet Run I over and over again, you can also try Spring Feet I in World 2 (Fluff-Puff Peaks) and Crouching High Jump I in World 3 (Shining Falls) for some alternative early-game Purple Coin farming.

Shining Falls Special Triple Threat Deluge

My personal favourite Purple Coin farming level in Super Mario Bros Wonder is also one of the hardest to complete (and has one of the most ridiculous names). Shining Falls Special Triple Threat Deluge has a lot of Purple Coins to collect, and I find it more enjoyable to play through this level than the Badge Challenges.

To get to the Shining Falls Special Triple Threat Deluge level, you'll need to complete every level in World 3 (Shining Falls) and then re-enter the Royal Seed Mansion. Here, you'll have a short conversation with Master Poplin before being given access to this world's Special Level - which is the one you're looking for.

Shining Falls Special Triple Threat Deluge has a five-star difficulty rating, so it's definitely not for the faint of heart. The good thing about this level, though, is that once you've gotten to grips with how to avoid the golden spiky boulders that fall from the sky, it becomes easier to speed run through it multiple times.

You can make this level (or any other level) even easier by playing as Nabbit, as you won't be knocked out when taking damage from enemy attacks. You'll also get a bonus Purple Coin when collecting power-ups!

How to get a 100 Purple Coin reward in each world

Our final piece of advice for stocking up on Purple Coins in Super Mario Bros Wonder is this: when you collect every Wonder Seed in an individual world, you'll be given a bonus set of 100 Purple Coins as a reward!

While this might not be the fastest way to get extra Purple Coins, it is something you can do in the background without having to play the same level over and over again, which can get tiresome.

What are Purple Coins used for in Super Mario Wonder?

A load of Purple Coins in Super Mario Wonder

The main use for Purple Coins is to purchase items at the Poplin Shop. Your priority should be the Wonder Seed sold at each shop, as well as the Badges that can give you handy boosts to get through tricky levels.

There are also some secret paths that require Purple Coins to unlock, as well as customizable Standees which are purely cosmetic extras - although they are necessary if you want to 100% complete the game.

It's worth pointing out that there's an extra-special Poplin Shop located in the Special World that lets you purchase Standees for specific characters, as opposed to the random Standees you'll get everywhere else.

This is not only a great way to fill out your collection, but also to quickly sink a bunch of Purple Coins if you're trying to get rid of them.

Remember, you can only hold a maximum of 999 Purple Coins at any one time, so keep an eye on how many you have and spend them regularly - or you'll miss out on any extra coins you could have collected!

This is especially important for the large 10 Purple Coins that appear in each level, as they'll only be worth 3 Purple Coins after the first time you find them. Make sure you've got enough room before collecting them.

That's everything you need to know about Purple Coins! Make sure you check out our Mario homepage for the latest guides and news about everyone's favourite moustachioed plumber.
