The beta playtest is a bit of a resource hog on even the most powerful PCs, so you may be wondering how you can improve your FPS in this latest shooter. THE FINALS looks absolutely incredible with its settings cranked to the max, but that comes at a cost of performance.

In a fast-paced first-person shooter where aiming is important, ensuring that your FPS is as high as possible is imperative. So, here's how you can boost your FPS.

Boost FPS with lower settings

The easiest way to boost your FPS is to lower your graphics settings. While the game looks properly stunning when everything is set to Epic, it can bring the frame rate down to a crawl.

The first thing you should try is to lower all of your graphics settings to Medium instead. This will retain as much visual fidelity as possible without the game looking like it was made for the Xbox 360 era.

In addition, you should also ensure that Nvidia DLSS or AMD FSR2 is enabled. This will lower the internal resolution of THE FINALS while upscaling it to retain quality. I found that the 'Performance' option here provided the best balance between FPS and visual quality.

While you're there, make sure that the game is running in Fullscreen Mode and that you have Nvidia Reflex turned 'On + Boost' for the least amount of input lag. It may not boost your FPS, but it will certainly make the game feel more responsive to play.

Other ways to boost FPS in THE FINALS

There are a couple of other methods that you can use to boost FPS.

Firstly, ensure that your internet connection is as stable as possible. The game relies on cloud computing to properly render massive levels of destruction. If your connection to the server is unstable or slow, this will result in the game feeling sluggish to play.

Additionally, it may help to close down any other applications on your PC that aren't essential while playing. Programs like Google Chrome, Discord, and Spotify can all use a decent chunk of RAM, even while running in the background. If you want to claw back a few more frames, try closing these down using Task Manager.

It's worth remembering that THE FINALS is still in the early beta stages of development, so performance is likely to improve as the developer keeps working on the game. Keep an eye out for updates to the beta that may include performance hot fixes.
