Random events can completely shake up the outcome of a match in THE FINALS, so it’s worth knowing what each of them does when you eventually encounter them.

Matches in the game already have some level of randomness to them with different weather and time of day effects on each map. However, random events can truly set one match apart, causing chaos in the latter half of a match.

All random events & what they do

We currently know of at least seven different events that can occur in a match of THE FINALS:

  • Mega-Damage: Increases damage dealt by all players
  • The Dead Go Boom: Player bodies will explode and damage all nearby players and environment when eliminated
  • Meteor Shower: A shower of meteors will begin to rain from the sky, damaging both players and the environment
  • Death Match: Defeating enemies will award players with more cash
  • Orbital Lasers: Players that stand still for a lengthy amount of time will be shot by a laser from the sky that deals 100 damage
  • Alien Invasion: This is listed in the launch patch notes for THE FINALS, but we’re not sure what it does yet. The patch notes read: You’ll have to see this one to believe it. It’s outta this world!
  • Low Gravity: The gravity in the arena is turned down, allowing players to jump higher and further

There may be more in-game events that we’re yet to encounter, but we will update this guide when we find more of them.

When do random events occur?

Random events in THE FINALS

Random events will occur in the second half of a match in THE FINALS. This may well mean that you don’t get to see one if someone manages to win within the first ten minutes or so.

However, stick around long enough and one of these random events may kick in. Some are more drastic than others, as you can tell from the descriptions above. However, events like the Meteor Shower can completely level the arena’s environment or take out unsuspecting players.

It’s worth remembering what each of the events do so that you know how to counter them when they occur. For example, when Low Gravity kicks in, be sure to keep a weather eye on the sky as it’s easier for players to jump above you.
