What happens when you sacrifice health in The Rogue Prince of Persia?
Sacrificing your health in The Rogue Prince of Persia can be one of the best ways to grow stronger, but it obviously comes with a risk that might not pay off.
Your health is the single most important value in The Rogue Prince of Persia, so the prospect of sacrificing it with no determined outcome seems rather preposterous.
However, there is a worthwhile reward for doing such an action in-game, and it might be something you want to consider during your runs.
Sacrificing health explained
When roaming through each area there's a chance that you'll come across a cult-like shrine with two stag skulls, giving you the opportunity to sacrifice 250 health points for an unknown reward.
Doing this grants you two random items, which can include weapons, tools, medallions, and other consumables like health.
There's no way to tell what items you'll be given before the sacrifice begins, so you'll have to take a chance and hope for the best!
Should you sacrifice health?
The prospect of sacrificing health very much depends on the state that you're in when you find the ritual. If you've got over 800 health and a health potion left then I'd definitely recommend going for it, but if you're in a bit of a rough state then it's probably not worth the risk.
While most rewards will allow you to grow stronger, giving you new powers or an enhanced weapon, there is a chance that the outcome is completely useless, or at least not a return worth the health that you sacrificed.
Often there is a teleport situated nearby though, so you could always reach the end of the level and then use the nearest station to travel back to the sacrifice. This is a good strategy as moving to a new area gives you 500 health and an additional health potion, so you'll essentially get two items for free.
