The Sims 4 Beginner Tips: Expansion Packs

Let's address the elephant in the room, everyone knows about the many expansion packs for the Sims games. None of which are especially cheap, and you might feel as though you have to buy every single expansion pack to enjoy the game. That's not true, as you play through the base game see what it is you enjoy about it the most, then curate the expansion packs to your whims.

Some expansion packs are denser and packed with content than others, but each will add new elements to the base game. For example, you can add seasons, pets, new careers and playable jobs. Do your research on the various expansion packs, see which looks like the kind you want and buy them. Don't feel the need to buy every single expansion pack you see.

The Sims 4 Beginner Tips: Mods

The Sims 4 is a very mod-friendly game. With a huge number of mods made by members of the community, whether they're just visual changes or customization options, there are hundreds of mods to install into your game.

To install Sims 4 mods, you can drag and drop the mod folders you've downloaded into your Sims 4 "Mods" folder. The game should automatically have created one for you after you start up the game for the first time.

Your mods folder is located in: Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods.

Once you're in the game, you'll also need to enable mods in your game settings by going to your Options menu under the Other tab. Make sure to check off "Enable Custom Content and Mods" and "Script Mods Allowed" depending on what you've chosen to install. You'll need to restart your game afterwards.

With all that in mind, you're ready to take on the wonderful world of Sims 4. Hopefully, these Sims 4 Beginner tips will aid you will in your new gaming experience.
