How to transmog in Rise of the Ronin & change your character appearance
Here’s everything on how to both transmog in Rise of the Ronin and change the appearance of your samurai, including removing the look of in-game headwear.
The method of transmog in Rise of the Ronin and even changing your basic appearance is thankfully quite straightforward.
You won’t be able to alter your look in the game right away, but you won’t have to wait too long.
How to transmog & change appearance
You’ll be able to transmog equipment and change your appearance in Rise of the Ronin once you reach the longhouse, one of the various rest stops where you can also talk with those you’ve bonded with, store items, and even decorate them with furniture.
You’ll find the first longhouse automatically within three to four hours of Rise of the Ronin’s story, meeting Ryoma there after you first speak properly with Taka Murayama in Yokohama’s Pleasure District.
To change the appearance of your character or equipment via transmogging, you just need to follow these quick steps once you’re in the longhouse:
- Select ‘Relax’
- Choose ‘Redesign’ to transmog your equipment
- Select which appearance to change for which weapon/armour whilst keeping its stats
- Press the DualSense’s Options button to finalise your settings
- Pick ‘Appearance’ to change the look of your character
- You’ll be taken to the same character creation screen as at the start of the game
- Select your character changes
- Press the DualSense’s Options button to finalise your settings
How to stop headgear showing
If you want to keep the stats of worn gear but also not have your hat or helmet stop you from seeing your protagonist’s face in cut scenes, here are the different steps you’ll need to stop your headgear from showing in Rise of the Ronin:
- Go into the main menu
- Select the 'System' tab
- Go to 'Game Settings'
- Scroll down until you reach 'Show Headgear’
- Select 'Off’
- Or 'Hide For Event Scenes Only' if you still want to see your headgear when exploring and in combat
