Defeating Octavian gives players some extremely useful blueprints, ones you will need to progress to higher levels. Here is everything you need to know to find and defeat V Rising Octavian the Militia Captain.
Where is Octavian the Militia Captain?
Octavian can be found in the Dunley Farmlands region of Vardoran. Specifically, in the north of the region, in a place called the Bastion of Dunley. He can be found here at any time, but your best bet is to arrive at night, as there isn’t much in the way of cover from the sun here. There are plenty of smaller enemies in the area, so it would be wise to deal with them before going after Octavian.

How to beat Octavian the Militia Captain
Octavian, as his Captain rank would suggest, is a warrior, and a powerful one at that. He fights with a large sword, but he also employs several ranged attacks. As stated, he is a level 56 boss fight so it is advised that you should be at least close to that level to take him on.
Octavian’s attacks are powerful but quite easy to read. He is relatively slow-moving, so keep your distance and he should be able to crowd you too much. There are audio and visual cues to his main attacks, so you should quickly familiarise yourself with them as the fight goes on. The cues to look out for are his overhead swing, a horizontal swing, and when he shouts “to me!” or “here’s an old trick”.
The overhead swing is a wind-up for a projectile attack, which fires a single projectile in a line that, if it hits you, will launch you into the air and leave you stunned for a short time. The horizontal swing fires out multiple projectiles in an arc in front of Octavian. When he shouts "to me", that means he is summoning an ally, a fire archer who will pepper you with shots. It is a good idea to get rid of the archer as soon as possible. Octavian’s old trick is a massive spinning attack that follows you around the arena, while also firing projectiles in all directions. He will be exhausted after performing this attack, giving you time to do damage.
While Octavian is generally quite slow, he has dash attacks that can close distances nearly instantly. For the most part, you can keep your distance. If possible, try to hit Octavian with ranged attacks. Watch what he does, and you will soon see where the opportunities to attack him are. Between his attacks, you can move in and strike back. The key is to keep your distance so you don’t get caught up in all of his attacks.
