Everything we know about Warzone season 5
Warzone season 5 has hit our screens. Here's everything that we know about the update.
The new season of Call of Duty Warzone has hit our screens, which includes map changes, new guns, perks, and more. But when did Warzone season 4 end and the Warzone season 5 begin?
Here's everything you need to know about when the Warzone season 5 start time, release date was, and what came with it.
Warzone season 5 start time and release date
Warzone season released on Wednesday, 2 August, 2021, at 5pm BST, following the conclusion of season 4.
Warzone season 5 roadmap
The official Warzone season 5 roadmap revealed everything to expect in both the battle royale and Black Ops Cold War, with the big additions definitely being a new mode called Clash. This is a "spiritual successor to Warzone Rumble", the 50v50 mode previously seen in the game. This features teams of four in an unlimited respawn deathmatch, where players spawn with their starting loadouts. So it essentially turns Verdansk into an enormous multiplayer map with the usual Warzone add-ons like armour plates, buy stations, and vehicles.
Another big change this season is the new gulag, Rush. This is also a multiplayer map in Black Ops Cold War, although the gulag part is only a small section of the map. The full map would probably be a little too big for a 1v1 fight. Two new perks, Combat Scout and Tempered, also enter the fray. Combat Scout makes any enemy you damage get highlighted in bright orange, while Tempered makes armour plates hold 75 points of protection each, rather than 50. The downside is that you can only equip two at a time, so you can't go over 150 armour.
Warzone season 5 map changes: Mobile Broadcast Stations
Mobile Broadcast Stations came in during season 5. They offer "rewards" and their locations will change from one match to the next, but exactly what that entails is yet to be seen.
Warzone Season 5 new guns
Thanks to the roadmap above, we knew that four new weapons were coming to Warzone season 5, three of which will be available from the start. The EM2 (assault rifle), TEC-9 (SMG), and Cane (melee) can be unlocked as soon as Warzone season 5 goes live, while the the Marshal (sidearm) released later on in the season.
Warzone Season 5 new operators
There were three brand new operators that came to Warzone season 5, but only one will be available at the start. Japanese operator Kitsune is the character in the promotional material and was in the game from the get-go, while Stryker and Hudson will be coming later on, like the Marshal gun.
There have been some reports of classic character Soap MacTavish appearing in some games of 2019’s Modern Warfare, and an operator bundle featuring the scot has previously appeared on CODTracker, so who knows - maybe he’ll be making his grand arrival during this season?
That’s everything we knew about the exciting season of Warzone.
