When is Pokemon Stadium coming to Switch? Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming Nintendo Pokemon Stadium Switch release date.
When is Pokemon Stadium coming to Switch? The question has undoubtedly been on many fans’ minds since the September 2022 Nintendo Direct, where it was announced that a pair of the Nintendo 64’s classic Pokemon spin-offs would make their way to the Nintendo Switch. Here is all you need to know about the Pokemon Stadium Switch release date.
When is Pokemon Stadium coming to Switch?
The Pokemon Stadium Switch release date is Wednesday, 12 April 2023. The confirmation comes from Nintendo itself, which not only confirmed the release date on Twitter, but also clarified it will be available for Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack members. It will also feature online multiplayer battles.
The Pokemon Stadium games were announced alongside a number of other Nintendo 64 titles that have ports coming out in the near future. Pilotwings 64, Mario Party, and Mario Party 2 will make their way to the Switch in 2022.
Then, Mario Party 3, 1080° Snowboarding, and Excitebike 64 will join the Pokemon Stadium games in 2023. Finally, a GoldenEye 007 port with online multiplayer was also confirmed, although Nintendo only said that this game was “coming soon.”
How the Pokemon Stadium Switch ports will work
As mentioned along with the Pokemon Stadium Switch release date, these ports are available thanks to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. The Expansion Pack is currently the only way to access select Nintendo 64 titles on the Switch.
While a basic Nintendo Switch Online membership will grant players access to an array of Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo Entertainment System games, they will have to make the upgrade if they want to play any Nintendo 64 games on the go.
The basic Nintendo Switch Online subscription costs about £3.49/$3.99 per month and £17.99/$19.99 per year. However, to gain access to these upcoming Pokemon Stadium re-releases, players will have to splurge on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, which costs £34.99/$49.99 per year.
