Wo Long Fallen Dynasty gameplay
Producers Fumihiko Yasuda (Nioh) and Masaaki Yamagiwa who has had previous experience working on Bloodborne for Sony, have confirmed that the game will play in the same challenging way as Nioh but will implement traditional Chinese martial arts within its combat system. This means the player will have to get to grips with the elegance but intrinsically fast-paced nature of Chinese martial arts to successfully play.
The game will operate on a moral system that will be affected every time the player dies. In a move similar to that of the nemesis system in Shadow of Mordor, enemies will also benefit if they successfully land a killing blow. How far this will differ from the nemesis system remains to be seen, Team Ninja have thus far remained mysterious on the specifics.
Wo Long Fallen Dynasty will be set in the popular Three Kingdoms era following the fall of the Han dynasty, a topic previously explored in successful titles such as Total War: Three Kingdoms. The grim setting of war lends itself well to a soulslike that already appears darker than Nioh.
The issue of the challenge being difficult, but fair has been expressed by Fumihiko Yasuda who has assured fans that the game will be punishing but not beyond the realms of any other soulslike on the market.
Unlike Elden Ring, Wo Long will follow the same gameplay structure laid out by Nioh and be more linear in design rather than open world. This means we can expect bigger set pieces crafted into the environmental design.
