XDefiant comes with many of the core ideas you'd expect from a hero shooter, with each faction having unique skills and ultras for players to use in battle.

Knowing how to fight back when an enemy activates their most powerful move is vital for winning games, but there is also a nice achievement you might want to chase that involves doing it multiple times. Here's everything you need to know.

How to cancel enemy ultras

You simply need to kill the enemy that activates the ultra to cancel it and send them back to the respawn point. There's no special trick, but it is easier said than done.

There is no way to track ultimate progress on the enemy team, so it's all about being at the right place at the right time to watch their animation when it activates. If you can catch an enemy unaware during this, you should easily be able to take them down before they can respond.

As you play more, you'll also likely get used to the certain audio barks and animations that signal an ultimate is incoming.

If you're desperate in particular to race toward the achievement that requires you to cancel an enemy ultra five times, there are some ways you can improve your chances.

For one, objective-based game modes tend to see more concentrated fighting in specific areas, so you're more likely to see enemies pop ultras in these situations.

You can also make a note of the best player on the enemy team and track them down, as they'll have a better chance of getting their ultimate off.

A lot of it will come down to timing and luck ultimately, so keep playing and eventually, you'll manage it.
