If you’ve been playing XDefiant and just can’t wait to unlock the DedSec faction – then I’m here to break down how to do so, as well as what DedSec has to offer in the game.

As a free-to-play shooter that brings together some of Ubisoft’s most iconic titles, DedSec from the Watch Dogs series offers some unique gameplay options that set it apart from the other factions.

How to unlock DedSec in XDefiant

There are two ways to unlock DedSec in XDefiant:

  • Unlocking it by earning 700,000 XP
  • Purchase it for 1,000 XCoins

The DedSec Major challenge in XDefiant

While you can certainly purchase the Watch Dogs 2 faction, by quickly levelling up, you can soon unlock it simply by playing the game without it costing you a single penny.

This forms part of the Preseason Major Challenge which is essentially the grand prize among all the other challenges you can complete this preseason.

DedSec abilities in XDefiant

Live every faction in XDefiant, DedSec has its own set of unique abilities that can make for some powerful builds. You’ll find all of DedSec’s abilities below:

Ability

Description

Fabricator

After a device is deployed, the Fabricator prints a new one.

Hijack

Hack enemy-deployed abilities and make them your own.

Lockout

Prevent enemies from using their Ability & Ultra in an area of effect.

Spiderbot

Deploy a Spiderbot that will target and stun the nearest foe via facehug.

As you can see, the bulk of DedSec’s power comes from hacking and interfering with the enemy team’s abilities. In some cases, like Hijack, you can even turn their abilities against them.
