XDefiant's Season 2 is nearly upon us, and with it comes a bunch of new content including a fresh Faction, exciting game mode, and new weapons.

Season 2 featured content

The headlining addition to XDefiant's Season 2 is the new Faction 'Highwaymen'. Sourced from Far Cry New Dawn, this band of marauders are definitely not to be messed with, and bring their own post-apocalyptic chaos to the game.

Joining them too are three new maps and the same number of weapons, giving players a bunch of new ways to jump into the action. The new weapons include the ever-reliable L86 assault rifle, the speedy PP-19, and the devastatingly fast SPAS-12 shotgun.

With the new Faction, you'll also have new tools to play with, including the devastating Saw Launcher which sees circular blades blasted at your enemies. You can also let the new Scrap Turret device keep watch too, giving you a bit of protection in open areas.

You'll also have a new way to play with the fresh 'Bomb!' game mode, which will be very familiar if you've played Rainbow Six Siege. This single-life round–based mode tasks players with either planting a defuser or protecting a bomb and can create some tactical and tense situations.

Player progression & quality of life

Outside of the main additions, there's also a barrage of improvements to player progression and general quality-of-life enhancements.

Of course, a new Season wouldn't be complete without a fresh Battle Pass, and there are even improvements to the progression speed, letting you get through it quicker and earn all of the exciting rewards. You'll also be able to enjoy a selection of the latest event challenges and work your way towards the new weapon mastery skin.

In terms of QoL improvements, players will be delighted to hear that footstep audio has had a boost, which should hopefully help you place enemy positions a lot easier. There's also a new Top 500 leaderboard if you fancy yourself among the best in the world, and Ranked map voting will give players greater agency over their experience in-game.
