Wondering what the Blood Moon is in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? If you never played Breath of the Wild, then the first time that this happens, it may take you by surprise - as the world in the game grows increasingly red and angry looking.

The Blood Moon in Tears of the Kingdom is a mechanic that makes it so that players don't clear out the entire world and get bored. So, if you need an explanation of the Blood Moon in Tears of the Kingdom, read on.

When the Blood Moon occurs, the sky turns crimson red, causing all previously defeated enemies (except for bosses) to respawn in the world. Every time a Blood Moon occurs in Tears of the Kingdom, it'll trigger a cutscene showing the moon in the sky as everything turns red, and scenes of enemies being reborn across the world.

In the previous game, Breath of the Wild, a Blood Moon is explained as the period that Ganondorf reaches the height of his power, allowing him to revive Link's enemies.

While the Blood Moon in Tears of the Kingdom can be a scary event the first time around, it also comes with a big advantage, as all the revived enemies can be killed again for their resources, making it a perfect time to farm for any necessary items for cooking or crafting.

In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Blood Moon is an event that occurs every seven in-game days (or roughly every three hours in real-time) at 12 AM exactly.

It's worth noting that the Tears of the Kingdom Blood Moon also resets resources, like ore deposits, which is great for Zonaite farming. You can also trigger the Blood Moon yourself if you want to farm resources, by skipping time ahead at a campfire, fire pit, or inn.

That's our explainer of the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Blood Moon, and now you know it's an event that causes enemies and resources to respawn. Make sure to check out how to upgrade Energy Cells in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as it allows you to use Zonai constructs for much longer.
