How to change the time of day in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Here's our guide for changing the time of day in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Also included is how to build a campfire and find a suitable stable in Hyrule.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom operates on a world clock that advances the day roughly every 12 minutes. You may need to start a quest in the game at a certain time of day or wish to see different environments.
If so, read on and we'll show you you can easily change the time of day in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
How to advance the time in-game
To change day into night or vice versa in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom you must simply rest at any campfire or buy a room at a stable for the night.
You'll encounter a campfire very early on in your playthrough and will also learn how to build your own, so you have a place to up as you traverse the wilds of Hyrule. Simply sit at a fire to interact with the night/day system.
The times of day in Hyrule tend to equate to morning starting at 5 AM, noon at 12 PM and night from 9 PM onwards.
How to build a campfire
To build a campfire in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you'll need the following materials:
- Wood Bundle – Made by chopping trees with an axe.
- Flint – Acquired by destroying rocks on mountains.
Once you have these items, simply drop them onto the ground and hit the flint with a weapon (must be a metal weapon). Alternatively, you can light the items on fire by throwing a Fire Fruit.
How to unlock stables
You'll unlock stables quickly in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, once you complete 'The Incomplete Stable' quest in Lookout Landing by speaking to Karson and using Ultrahand to fix the stable roof there.
Afterward, you'll be able to visit any of the 17 stables on the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom map, recognizable for the smoke that tends to drift from their location in the wilds.
At a stable, you can trade in Pony Points for rewards or buy a bed for the night. A regular bed will cost 20 Rupees and restore your health completely whereas, a soft bed will cost 40 Rupees and will restore your heart plus an extra temporary heart.
