How to get the golden horse in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Sometimes an ordinary horse just won't cut it. So here's our guide for getting the golden horse in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The golden horse is one of the best all-around horses in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
If you like to traverse Hyrule on horseback, there's no finer steed than this one-of-a-kind Zelda mount. With that, let's review our rundown of getting the golden mount in the game.
How do you get the golden horse?
To get the golden horse in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you must complete the Zelda's Golden Horse Side Adventure. However, you'll need to take care of a few things first before you can get started on this side quest.
It all begins with a conversation with Penn at Lookout Landing. To access Lookout Landing, you must progress through the early stages of the game and complete the Temple of Time.
Once you're able to travel to Lookout Landing, you have to set out and complete your first temple. After that, go back to Lookout Landing and speak to Penn, who will proceed to fly away to the Lucky Clover Gazette.
The Lucky Clover Gazette is situated just east of Rito Village. Here, you can talk to Penn again to start the Potential Princess Sightings! Side Adventure. After conversing with Penn, your next stop is the Snowfield Stable to the northeast in the Tabantha Tundra.
With all that out of the way, you can finally begin Zelda's Golden Horse Side Adventure by speaking with Penn and Harlow at Snowfield Stable.
Where can you find the golden horse?
Zelda's Golden Horse Side Adventure tasks you with finding and returning Zelda's personal steed to Harlow at Snowfield Stable. Unfortunately, the creature fled in fear somewhere to the north of Snowfield Stable.
You will find the golden horse roaming the North Tabantha Snowfield. The horse's brilliant gold colouring makes it easy to spot as it prances in the white snow. But you'll need to be careful travelling through the North Tabantha Snowfield because a frightening Frost Gleeok patrols the skies above.
Once you locate Zelda's golden horse, sneak up on it and mount it to tame it as you would any other horse. You may need to use food or elixirs to temporarily buff your stamina so that you can soothe the golden horse before it bucks you off.
Once you're in control of the golden horse, ride it back to Harlow at Snowfield Stable and speak with the stablehand. Penn and Harlow will thank you for your assistance and suggest that you keep Zelda's horse. As a bonus, Harlow will give you the Royal Bridle, Royal Saddle, and an Energising Elixir, plus Penn will award you some rupees.
To make the golden horse yours officially, speak to the receptionist at the Snowfield Stable and register it.
