How do you complete the Makasura Shrine
Here is everything that you will need to do in order to complete the Makasura Shrine in TOTK, broken down into each section of this shrine's larger puzzle:
For the first part, all you will need to do is use the Ascend Rune Ability to reach the overhanging metal platform that sits in front of you.
First gap
- Once you reach the top of that, continue through the shrine and there should be a metal L-shaped object with two new Zonai devices next to it.
- These Zonai devices will prop any object upright when activated and are the key to uncovering the puzzle of this shrine.
- Attach one of the Zonai devices to the outside bottom edge of the L-shaped object as shown in the screenshot above, and place it flat on the long-edge so that the Zonai device hangs slightly over the gap.
- Then, stand at the top of the object, at the furthest point away from the Zonai device, and shoot the device with your bow. This should propel you across the gap, so make sure to use your glider to ensure that you clear the jump.
Ball puzzle
- For the next part, you will want to attach the Zonai device to the top of the L, so that the short platform is elevated in the air.
- Move the object so it is next to the giant set of bars, and then use Ascend underneath the platform to climb over.
- Once inside the section beyond the bars, you will want to place the Zonai device on the opposite end of the bowl. Then, place the ball inside of the bowl - ensuring that it is not attached - and then hit the device to fling the ball over the bars.
- The ball should naturally make its way into the hole, opening up a new chamber with an additional bowl object inside.
- To get back over the bars though, you will want to stand in the bowl yourself, and then shoot the Zonai device with your bow, which should propel you over and back to the main area.
Last gap
- For this last section of the shrine, you will want to create a contraption like the one shown in the picture above. This comprises attaching the Zonai device to the bottom of the L and hanging that over the edge like you did in the first part of the Shrine.
- Then, attach the non-bowl side of the bowl object to the top of the L object so that it is one long construction with the Zonai object at one end and the bowl at the other.
- Finally, you will want to stand in the bowl and shoot the Zonai device with your bow to fly through the air, and you will be able to reach the end of the shrine safely by using your paraglider.
In essence, this shrine isn't too complicated, but it can just require clever positioning to best use this particular Zonai device.
Where can you find the Makasura Shrine?
As you can see from the screenshot above, the Makasura Shrine map location in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is located just southwest of Kakariko Village on top of a hill. It is really not hard to miss once you are inside of the village, but if you need a hand then all you need to do is head to the map coordinates 1770, -1050, 0166 and it should be right there.
