AndaSeat Spider-Man Edition Review: A Gaming Chair To 'Marvel' At
AndaSeat's line of Marvel chairs honour the legacy of the comics and the movies, with the Spider-Man edition chair being a must-have for Web-Heads.
Go AndaSeat, go. Looking above the New York City skyline, there's a flash of red and blue, and it definitely isn't Superman. Gaming chair specialists AndaSeat are back, and this time, they're honouring the legacy of Spider-Man, the comics, the games, and his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thankfully, the AndaSeat Spider-Man edition is a chair that even Stan Lee would be proud of.
Superhero tie-ins are nothing new, and with the might of the MCU making comic books cool again, we've come a long way from Hugh Jackman's ridiculous hair and Halle Berry's maligned "Do you know what happens to a toad?" from 2000's X-Men.
As we enter a new era of superhero movies with Phase 4 of the MCU, Tom Holland's Spider-Man looks like he'll be a cornerstone of the world's highest-grossing franchise. With this in mind, it's an easy sell to see why AndaSeat would create a chair for Web-Head - decked out in Spidey's signature colour scheme.
AndaSeat Spider-Man Edition: Swinging out in style
With the buzz of the office door, this Hulk-sized box landed in the middle of our Daily Bugle-inspired bullpen. The box comes adorned with the Avengers from the comics, and boasts a lineup that includes everyone from Iron Man to Captain Marvel, Black Panther to Hawkeye - whether that's a sign of more Marvel Edition chairs to come remains to be seen.
Opening the box, the AndaSeat Spider-Man Edition looked like a relatively easy build. You don't need the smarts of Hank Pym to put this one together, however, you might need the strength of the Emerald Giant. The AndaSeat Spider-Man Edition isn't exactly a light lift, and at times, it feels a bit like you're trying to wield Mjölnir.
The plus side of the chair's hefty weight is the fact it screams build quality. This is no flimsy Justin Hammer rip-off that will fall apart in seconds. Much like the MCU itself, AndaSeat always strives for the best in quality. If that means you don't need to go to the gym after building your chair, then so be it.
If the iconic red and blue wasn't a giveaway, the AndaSeat Spider-Man edition chair is more than just a slight homage to the wall-crawling hero. If a backrest that includes his colouring and signature emblem weren't enough, how about two indents designed to look like his scowling eyes?
It's definitely a statement piece and not something that will fit in every gamer's setup, but with a chair modelled on Spidey, you wouldn't expect anything less. From head to toe, the AndaSeat Spider-Man Edition looks like it's been pulled from the pages of Marvel Comics or Marvel's Spider-Man from Insomniac games. Apt, considering this is designed as a gaming chair.
AndaSeat Spider-Man Edition: Supporting America's Ass
We hope Mr Stark has padded Spidey's suit with something that's equally comfortable on Peter's tush. Sitting down in the AndaSeat Spider-Man Edition, and you're immediately enveloped in comfort. Added to this, the 4D armrests are fully adjustable at the touch of a button - meaning your wrists are constantly supported.
There's a comfy back pillow to make sure your lower back is well-supported, while there's a head pillow that features a stitched spider emblem to make you feel like Peter Parker himself. It would be all too easy to have a cheap knock-off that's painted red and blue to cash in on the hype of Spider-Man, but here, AndaSeat uses all the tools of its arsenal.
Alongside AD+ PVC leather to make sure the chair is as resilient as Spider-Man's suit, the AD+ design comes from over 10 years of design experience. Unlike some chairs, the sturdy wheels and their PU covering means you won't be wheeling off on a seat that has a mind of its own. As the final cherry on top, there's a Spidey-themed mat, in case anyone didn't already know your love of Spider-Man.
We're not here to judge, but we're not sure if you'd really need the 160-degree tilt function that can apparently be used for sleeping, but if you're Ludwig doing a Twitch Subathon, it might come in handy. All in all, the steel frame and support reinforce the quality running through the chair. While the build would be great as a standard gaming chair, the fact it's got a flair of Marvel magic is an added bonus.
AndaSeat Spider-Man Edition: Endgame
It's easy to bang on about a great gaming chair, however, AndaSeat has the market cornered with its line of Marvel chairs. The design could be classed as garish by some, so the Spider-Man edition definitely isn't for everyone. However, after a long day of swinging across the city, it's the perfect place to (literally) sit back and relax.
The AndaSeat Spider-Man Edition comes with a hefty price tag that even Tony Stark might struggle to justify, but then again, it's competitively priced in the realms of high-end gaming chairs. Added to this, the shelf life of this chair is sure to be a long one, so we suggest you see it as an investment. It definitely beats being hunched over in some shoddy chair that doesn't offer support where it's needed.
If you're already sold, AndaSeat is holding a back to school sale from August 15 until September 15. Anyone who buys one of the Marvel edition chairs during this period will be given a free footrest. It's no secret that Spider-Man was Stan Lee's favourite comic book creation, and even some 59 years after he leapt into our lives, the character is more popular than ever.
As Spider-Man continues to hold up a franchise of his own, it seems only right that spider-fans get to sit in style. In terms of statement pieces, you don't get much better than the AndaSeat Spider-Man Edition. Like an old comic book "kapow", this is one gaming chair that's sure to pack a punch and be a conversation starter at the same time.
