It seems that everyone is hearing Baldur's Gate 3 out now, and we couldn't be happier about it. For a small developer like Larian Studios to experience such incredible critical acclaim, award show love, and box office booms is wonderful to see, especially after the game itself proved to be a titan in terms of content and playtime.

Baldur's Gate 3 maintains its popularity, as new and returning gamers keep its player numbers alive. It smashed a slew of records in 2023, and now, the horny fantasy epic has broken another on Steam - showing just how popular it really is.

According to a new report from Video Game Insights, Baldur's Gate 3 has taken the top spot for Steam's highest-grossing games in 2023.

The report claims that Baldur's Gate 3 has clambered to the top spot of Steam revenue to beat the likes of Hogwarts Legacy and Starfield. It even had more downloads than Lethal Company and Overwatch 2. In doing so, the game has reportedly amassed $657 million in revenue. Blimey.

We knew Baldur's gate 3 was a success, but this is unprecedented, especially for a Dungeons & Dragons RPG. There's no doubt that Baldur's Gate 3 earned its stripes, but this is a massive turnaround for a game from a company of Larian's scale. It looks like Baldur's Gate fever isn't quite over yet.

As will come as more good news to Larian Studios, the love of fantasy is going to plough through into this year, as the most anticipated game of the year by Video Game Insights' reckoning is fantasy survival title, Enshrouded.

The top 10 most anticipated games list is peppered with more magic and monsters, too, with Dragon's Dogma 2 and Dark and Darker also making the cut. Steam is on a hype train right now, and it's great for Larian Studios on behalf of Baldur's Gate 3 and whatever comes next from the team. We love to see a small studio winning.
