If you've just found the Flower Key in Baldur's Gate 3, you'll know it's not entirely clear what it should be used for. Here, we will tell you why you need the key, and why it is vital for learning how to solve the Open Hand Temple Murders quest.

You'll find a myriad of random items in Baldur's Gate 3, many of which are related to hidden quests you'll pick up later, or may just miss altogether if you don't perform the correct steps. If you're one of the many who has found the 'Key with a flower motif' in Act 3 of the game but aren't sure what it does, we've got you covered.

Where can you find the Flower Key?

To first find the Flower Key in Baldur's Gate 3 (just in case you don't have it yet), you'll need to make your way to the cave underneath the Open Hand Temple and grab it off the Doppelganger called Zomm.

The two main ways of accessing this is from the hatch in the kitchen of the Open Hand Temple, or from the cave mouth below the Wyrm's Crossing bridge where you can access the path next to the river.

Once you get there, you'll instantly have to fight the group of Doppelgangers, but once they're all dead, just take a look at Zomm's inventory and grab the 'Key with a flower motif' from his body.

Where do you use the Flower Key?

After grabbing the Baldur's Gate 3 Flower Key, you will need to make your to the Fraygo Flophouse on the Wyrm's Crossing bridge to make use of it (marked on the map below).

This isn't immediately obvious from picking up the key, and we opted to use Speak to Dead on Zomm to find out more information about it, which marked the location on our map. However, this step isn't necessary, so you can just head to the Flophouse straight away.

At the Flophouse, make your way inside, head up the stairs, and then take the ladder to the attic. Inside here, you can find a wardrobe that contains a fake door leading into a secret room, which you will need to use the Baldur's Gate 3 Flower Key to enter.

Inside the secret room at Fraygo's Flophouse, you'll want to pick up the Bloodstained Parchment on the desk to the right to help you solve the Open Hand Temple Murders quest in Baldur's Gate 3.

This contains a list of targets for the Dopplegangers and Bhaalist cultists to murder, one of them being Father Lorgan from the Open Hand Temple.

With the new evidence about the murder, you can head into Sharess' Caress across from the Flophouse, and up the stairs on the left side you can find Inspector Valeria sipping on wine.

Speak to him and present him the evidence, and he will gift you a 'Pass to the Lower City' to speak to another investigator about the larger Bhaalist plot, which completes the Open Hand Temple Murders quest in Baldur's Gate 3.

That's our full breakdown of the Baldur's Gate 3 Flower Key and where to use it so you can solve the Open Hand Temple Murders quest in Act 3 of the game.
