Baldur's Gate 3 Infernal Iron is a rare and important resource for one member of your team - Karlach.

Baldur's Gate 3 has a cast of interesting characters, each with their own struggles and needs. If you want to help out Karlach and have her as your lover, or even just an ally on your team, here is how you can help her out.

Infernal Iron is a required resource for Karlach's Infernal Engine and the key component to completing the Hellion's Heart companion quest. There are many places to search in the game, so here are the locations where you can find Infernal Iron to help Karlach in Baldur's Gate 3.

Where can you find Infernal Iron in Baldur's Gate 3?

There are a number of places where you can find Infernal Iron throughout the game, but thankfully you just need two of them for the quest. The Infernal Iron locations are as follows:

Location Directions
Act 1 - Blighted Village Blacksmith's cellar, in the chest on ledge above the forge on the right
Goblin Camp In the treasure room behind the throne in Dror Ragzlin's room
Grymforge Help Stonemason Kith to receive Infernal Iron
Zhentarim Hideout In a chest in a small room at the back of the hideout. Of the two chests there, it is in the one on the right
Act 2 - Gauntlet of Shar - West To the right when facing the door to Balthazar's room, there is a locked door to a treasure room. Inside there are three chests, the Infernal Iron is in the middle one
Gauntlet of Shar - East On the east side of the giant room in the centre of the gauntlet, you will find an Orthon called Yurgir. Defeat him and you can loot an Infernal Iron from his body
Mason's Guild In the northeast of Reithwin Town you will find the Mason's Guild, and inside you can find a piece of Infernal Iron on a table

Those are the locations we have found so far, there may well be more out there. If we discover more Infernal Iron locations, we will back to update this guide.

Infernal Iron has one significant purpose in Baldur's Gate 3, and that is to complete the Hellion's Heart companion quest for Karlach. Karlach has something called an Infernal Engine where her heart should be, a gift from her demon overlord. The engine is unstable, and Karlach needs to do something about it in order to survive.

Once you add Karlach to your companions, she will tell you about the engine, and that she needs an Infernal Mechanic to help her. To find one, head to the Emerald Grove. In the Tiefling camp, you will find Dammon the blacksmith. Speak to him about Karlach to learn that she needs Infernal Iron to stabilize her new heart.

You need two pieces of Infernal Iron to complete the quest, which Dammon can install to ease the burning sensation. It is worth noting that you can also find Infernal Metal or Infernal Alloy, and both are also usable here.

For the first upgrade, you should head to Dammon in Emerald Grove before completing the quest to save the grove, or destroy it. If you have already completed the main story quest here, Dammon will leave for Baldur's Gate. If you destroy the grove, you will never be able to complete this quest.

After you give him the first piece, find him again at the Last Light Inn in Act 2 to have the second piece of Infernal Iron installed.
